Why? – Double Dice Add-On Deck challenges students to analyze four presented items, determine which one doesn’t fit, and explain why. This engaging activity builds categorization, reasoning, and comparison skills—while making learning fun with the motivating double dice format.

With 54 cards and 216 unique prompts, students get repeated opportunities to sharpen their thinking, organization, and verbal expression skills.

What Skills Are Targeted?

• Categorization – Grouping items by shared characteristics.

How It Works:

1. Set Up the Cards – Place nine cards face down on the table.

2. Roll the Dice – A student rolls the double dice.

3. Match the Shape – Flip the card that matches the shape on the outer die.

4. Read the Prompt – Use the inner die number to select one of the four lists of items.

5. Respond – The student names the item that doesn’t belong and explains why.

Each colorful 3″ x 5″ card features a photograph along with four separate lists of items or ideas that relate to the picture, providing rich visual and verbal prompts for critical thinking.
